A content management system may sound daunting but it is simply a computer application that allows publishing, editing and modifying website content from a computer program. They also help you manage your work when you are collaborating with others. CMS are often used to create and modify websites containing blogs, daily news, and other constantly changing content. The main goal of content management systems is to store and organize files and provide protected access to the data to the users. Many CMS like Wordpress™ allow a user, even with limited expertise, to add, modify and remove content from a Web site without the intervention of a Web-master. Other like Joomla are slightly more complicated but are more secure to allow for the possibility of limited eCommerce and other features.

Choosing a content management system can be very challenging. They range from high-end corporate solutions to inexpensive and free tools that you can set up and maintain yourself. In order to decide what you need it is best to look at your company's needs, the time you have to learn, install and maintain the software, and the features the solution includes versus the amount of content you actually need to create.
